Mexico, Nov. 29 (Notimex).- The head of the Ministry of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, informed that the launch of the program "Viajemos por Mexico” (Let's travel through Mexico) is being prepared in metropolises of the United States such as Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston and Chicago.
The campaign will be carried out with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE, for its acronym in Spanish), through the consulates of Mexico in the United States, to take advantage of a potential market of 35 million Spanish speakers, according to a statement from the agency.
"For some time we have been thinking about detonating the campaign Viajemos por Mexico, from the United States, in Dallas, Houston, Chicago and now that I'm here at the Consulate offices in Chicago, it's an extraordinary place to launch these campaigns from here”, explained De la Madrid Cordero.
He added that in the city of Chicago there are between 500 and 600 daily visits of Mexicans to the Consulate; and potential recipients of this campaign to visit the destinations of the country.
The purpose of his visit to the city of Chicago, he added, is to promote the campaign "Mexico is a world in itself," especially because the North American market represents 60 percent of each international trip that arrives in Mexico.
"Today we are in the third most important market after Texas and California to encourage more tourists from this country to visit our destinations", he said.
De la Madrid Cordero highlighted the importance of Chicago for the Mexican market, since this city originates 8.0 percent of the total air travel arriving in our country from the United States.
